Some medicines may interact with sildenafil (e.g. nitrates found in some regions of the drug), so you may want to be sure to inform your doctor or pharmacist of all the medicines you're taking including prescription medicines, non-prescription medicines, and herbal medicines).
Some medicines may be affected by how your body absorbs tablets or other ingredients in your medicine.
For example, tadalafil is broken down in your liver and your medicine won't help you take it. Your doctor may want to try and take your next tablet as soon as possible.
If you have any questions about why you're taking sildenafil, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

The use of sildenafil can be done with a doctor’s prescription and not as commonly as it could be done with the pill.

It is important to note that the effects of sildenafil may not last as long if you take the drug for 3-4 weeks before you stop taking the drug. This can cause side effects such as headaches, heartburn and a metallic taste in the mouth.
The effects of the drug may be prolonged if you take the drug for more than one year. This is because sildenafil works on the nitric oxide pathway in the body. This pathway is a part of the PDE5 enzyme. When the PDE5 enzyme is inhibited by sildenafil, the nitric oxide is released in the penis. This causes the release of NO in the blood vessel in the penis.
Sildenafil should be taken only when the drug is prescribed by a doctor. If you take the drug with other medicines, this may cause unwanted side effects.
The use of sildenafil does not have any known safety or efficacy in pregnancy. Pregnant women should not take this drug.
